Customer Review: Amazon Has Misrepresented the Product As Easy To Upgrade Memory I purchased my Acer Aspire One AOA150-1635 8.9-inch Netbook with the Memory Upgrade which was advertised as "a quick and simple upgrade you can do yourself." That may be the case with a newer new model if you can unscrew a plate on the bottom and get to the memory. Amazon may be shipping an earlier version of the AOA150-1635 which does not have access to the memory from the bottom. I don't know this for a fact. Installation for this unit requires taking the entire unit apart, which probably voids the warranty, in order to get to the plug-in location. There is no way it is "a quick and simple upgrade you can do your self." I went on line to see how to do it. Check out:[..] and see for yourself if the memory upgrade is quick and simple. I am afraid to upgrade my unit and am waiting to see what Amazon.com will do about this. The advertising for the memory upgrade clearly misrepresents what is being sold. The price is the same as in local stores and is fair. However, if you intend to upgrade the memory, insist on getting a picture of the bottom of the unit or some representation that a quick and easy upgrade is quick and easy. I suspect that I would have been better off purchasing locally with the store installing the upgrade. All I saved was the tax and recycling charge. Acer Aspire One AOA150-1635 8.9-Inch Netbook - Sapphire Blue Customer Review: OK, BUT! Purchased this for access to email and the internet while traveling. The size is right, the fit and finish were good; I was excited to have it. However, right from the start we had trouble with the USB ports - 2 out of 3 of them. They didn't work. When I spoke to support they said the only way to fix the problem was to do a "restore" and bring the unit back to factory spec. We did that (after having loaded our own software and changing our preference) and it seemed to fix the problem. We reloaded our software, changed our preferences again and put it away for a week. We took it out and booted it up, and once again the 2 USB ports didn't work. Again we called Acer support (who were very helpful). After trying a number of fixes, we were told the only thing left to do was to do another "restore". We were not happy campers. Not knowing if this would continue to occur, we decided to return the unit to the vendor. As to the features, I liked the keyboard size. The screen, though reflective, was crisp and clear. However, I didn't like the auto scrolling feature of the touchpad as it seemed to get hung up a lot. Despite the instructions in the user's manual saying it could be disabled, Acer support said that it couldn't. In its place, we purchased a comparable Assus which we like much better except the keyboard is a bit smaller. But, there is no auto scroll feature, and everything works! |

Not only is she a beautiful color but she hums softly and works hard. She will be going to New Mexico this summer so we can stay in touch with family.
